Christmas is a time of giving and celebration. And there is no better place to celebrate and buy that perfect Christmas present than the approx. 150 festive stands with handicrafts, food and drink clustered around the historic Alte Rathaus (Old Town Hall), Marktkirche (Market Church), and Ballhofplatz. Hannover's Christmas market is a very special traditional German Christmas experience. Glass blowers, potters and candle makers demonstrate their craftsmanship. Not to mention the world famous Christmas tree decorations made in the Ore Mountains and the Thuringian Forest.

There are many special surprises in store as you wander through the Christmas market: an historic Christmas village reviving humble Medieval urban life, or the Finnish Christmas market with its real Lapland tent and Finnish specialities at Ballhofplatz – a real highlight for all Christmas visitors!
