since Garmisch-Partenkirchen was originally two separate villages, it follows that there should be two Christmas markets – all the more to spread that alpine holiday cheer! On December 9, the Partenkirchen’s historic Ludwigstraße is filled with booths and open-air kitchens. This once-a-year event is opened from 10 am to 8 pm and presents a very special Christmas market amidst picture-perfect house fronts adorned with traditional frescoes and ornate iron-work. The Christmas market in the pedestrian zone of Garmisch is open daily between 11 and 8 pm from December 8-23. On Christmas Eve, the market closes for the year at 2 pm.
